Guardian Plus Event

Since I am unable to make it to the Guardian Plus Opening Event due to work commitments, I have send the invite to my friend Ling Fang who will be a guest blogger of this post.

Check out what she has to say about the newly opened Guardian Plus Stores.

Guardian Plus Event (by Ling Fang)

My lovely friend Carol (thanks!) sent me a media invite for the grand opening of Guardian Plus, the world’s largest Guardian store in Orchard on the morning of 8th November 2013. Here’s my take of the event which I was privileged to attend.

We are all familiar with the Guardian stores scattered around Singapore. After all, the brand has been around since 1972. Guardian Health & Beauty currently operates 154 stores island-wide, with pharmacies and health and beauty products.

The flagship store (8,500 square feet) located at Basement 2 of Takashimaya Shopping Centre offers us a complete experience of understanding and buying health and beauty products from hair to body care, supplements and even shelves dedicated to mothers and babies. So for the busy, hardworking mothers out there who want to take care of yourselves, you can pick up your baby’s milk powder and also your facial products at the same place. Easy peasy! I was also quite surprised to find shelves for “Chinese Supplements” for those of us who swear by Chinese herbs for well-being.

Guardian Plus carries some 20,000 health and beauty products, some of which are new to market in Singapore. This includes one of the leading brands in the UK, Boots. The Boots section in Singapore will carry over 500 products including No 7, Botanics, Champneys, Mark Hill, Boots Dermocare and Boots Extracts. I have tried a “true match device” at the No 7 counter which let me know the shade of foundation I should use. The very friendly expert Rose, who will be situated at the store, told me I was a “warm ivory” colour.  I really do like their matte foundation which blended really well into my skin.

We can also expect personalised services in the new store—there will be a dedicated team of 4 pharmacist-trained in-house specialists (a nutritionist, health advisor, beauty advisor and pharmacist) to provide answers to all our questions along with customised assessments. For those of us who are a little shy, a private room is also available for consultation sessions.

If that is not enough, there is also an interactive area and a play, trial and test area. The multi-functional interactive area has 2 46-inch touch screens that provide product information/location/prices/promotions. We can also print out a shopping list of recommended items which is updated monthly for our shopping convenience. The play, trial and test area is where we can try items, analyse our hair and skin so that we can get targeted products for our skin needs.

All in all, I find that the Guardian Plus store is a place where I can spend quite a bit of time in to find out what my skin and body needs, especially from the experts. The high-tech gadgets available add a nice touch to the store (Takashimaya S.C., #B2-15 to 23).
